“Just ignore them” isn't the answer: What parents can do to prepare children if bullying happens

Parents can help children build confidence to deal with bullying situations. Teaching children to stay calm and practice confident body language is important. Differentiating tattling from asking for help empowers children to seek assistance. Identifying safe people and assuring children bullying is not their fault provides support. Open conversations before problems arise build resilience and prevent isolation.
